hi there.
I have been looking long for a plugin I could use to offer free foto blogs using wpmu. I tried all other competitors and this seems the most promising solution, but I found soem small problems straight away:

wpmu uses a different approach to files and paths.

i.e. wpmu is isntalled in the root, which contains the general folders like wp-content, wp-admin, etc but the individual user's files are kept in (this is from memory) wp-content/blogs.dir/[blog_id]/files so basically every blog has a unique ID which can be called by a function call, so basically all paths would have to be adjusted, with an if statement like: if wpmu detected change to this other path....

@manu: are you interested/willing to make the plugin wpmu compatible? would a donation/job offer help motivate you? I can't afford to invest much into this, but I am sure I could motivate you...

please give me some feedback on the issue...

hi,

thanks a lot for your message. finally, had the time to start to have a closer look at this. just didn't have time before, first vacation, then a lot of urgent photoq bugs that piled up in the meantime and needed fixing.

well, yes this sounds interesting. but on the other hand i don't have that many free resources at the moment. and i am currently not yet able to estimate how much change this would require.

donations are always welcome. and yes it happened before that some features that were not top priority to me got pushed that way. job offer on the other hand sounds a bit too scary right now. i already have a job and the time i am able to spend on photoq is kind of limited. so i don't want another one with deadlines and stuff. so i usually prefer to keep it at the donation model.

i installed wpmu and started exploring it a bit. i don't have the whole picture of what all the differences with wp are yet. however, yes the paths would definitely have to be adapted.

help in any form in order to make photoq wpmu compatible is highly appreciated. especially from people who are familiar with wpmu.

one point says

In addition to removing PHP, WordPress MU is more strict in regards to what post HTML it accepts. For example, it will strip out class/ID attributes, inline styles, <span> tags, etc.

That's already not too great for PhotoQ as it produces structured HTML like this, at least for some of the auto-configuration themes.

Does anyone know whether WPMU allows plugins to turn filters like this one off?

regarding fitlering of tags: as far as I know, it only fitlers them out when a logged in users saves a page/post, so I do not think the fitlers apply to your plugin but it can be turned off with 2 methods:

a) premium plugin: http://premium.wpmudev.org/project/additional-tags allows to add tags that get not filtered,

b) via the free unfiltered plugin: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/unfiltered-mu/

BTW. I'd be more than happy to give all the help you need to make this plugin wpmu compatible. Just let me know what I can do to help

thanks for your reply on filtering. i will have a look at this soon.

so far i think i solved the path/upload dir problem. a great help for me would be if you would volunteer to test this stuff. i can never test all possible setups and combinations plus i do not know wpmu so well yet, which makes it even harder for me to foresee what possible setups wpmu users of photoq will have.

I have a brandnew wpmu install where I plan on using this plugin. Meanwhile this installation is useless and not in use. You cna either have an admin account or I am VERY willing to test for you.

Hey Guys,

I've been also searching for photoblog plugin that would work on WPMU. I think I've tried almost every photoblog plugin out there with now luck. I've been searching and trying to make them work on WPMU literally for months but with my limited coding skills it led to nothing but disappointment.

I think this plugin is truly amazing and the closest to my idea of a photoblog plugin for WPMU.

I tested a beta for manu, worked fine, he then merged it into the main version, but I am in the middle of quitting my job and moving, so I didn't have any spare time to test it...

It is out now, enjoy: PhotoQ 1.8.3 supports WPMU.
