Hi,

after some time I tried again to update Wordpress (from 2.7.1. to 2.9.2) and PhotoQ (from 1.6 to 1.83) and I am still experiencing the same problem which kept me from updating before:

After uploading photos / specifiying the ftp directory and entering the common batch info, right after pressing "Importieren / Informationen eingeben" (Import / Enter Info), PhotoQ loses the beforehand recognized photos. So I cannot publish at all with the new WP/PhotoQ.

It would be great if you could give me a hint as to where to look for (and fix) the error. Any idea why PhotoQ loses the uploads in the new version?

BTW, the database convert worked without problems, so the published fotos look like they should and can be batch manipulated by PhotoQ, I just can't publish new ones.

PS: How can I publish single photos (to test if that works)? Is it just the function "Publish first foto" from the menu?

yes, it would be good if you could first verify that it works w/o batch uploads.

for this you need to disable batch uploads in the photoq settings (under further options).
tell me whether that works. thanks.

ok, I disabled batch uploads in the options menu. But when trying to publish with PhotoQ, it still wants the common information for batch uploads and it still loses the picture when I click "Import/Enter Information". This happens when using the Import from FTP Directory option.

Direct uploads fail immediately with the message "The file upload failed with the following error: Es fehlt ein temporärer Ordner.." - where do I specify the temporary directory for PhotoQ? Maybe there is a server setting that needs to be set in order for this to work?

do the regular (non-photoq) wordpress uploads work?

are permissions of directories (e.g., of wp-content) such that photoq can write to them?

i think i got it:
auto-updating wordpress and plugins work fine, however i encountered the same upload problem with the media library.
After rechecking I found the upload_tmp_dir in php.ini empty, so that did the trick so far. I kinda knew there was inconsistent upload behavior but it worked in 2.7.1 so I figured it cant be wrong for 2.9.x but it was.

Works fine with batch uploads now, too. Yippie!

Hope that solves it and php.ini does not get overwritten by some cronjob / script / higher up directive...

Sidenote: Is Imagemagick now necessary for photoq?
When trying to publish, I get this message:
"All attempts to create GD image source failed.
ImageMagick is not installed (it is highly recommended that you install it).
Source image is too large (800x600 = 0.5Mpx, max=13.4Mpx) for GD creation (either install ImageMagick or increase PHP memory_limit to at least 68M)."
(and a whole lot more of that stuff, basically saying I need Imagemagick).

depends. in general, no. for large files, yes. see documentation: http://www.whoismanu.com/photoq-wordpress-photoblog-plugin/

if you use imagemagick please install the patch mentioned here http://www.whoismanu.com/forum/topic/imagemagick-issues since currently there is a bug.

if you do, please tell me whether the patch works. thanks.

hi,

so at first I increased memory limit to 128 meg, which helped with GD.
Now with the patch, the Imagemagick path information stays set in the options and there is no error message.
When publishing, I have no error messages either, but I am not sure which GL Photoq uses, since both should be available...
can I tell somehow which one is being used?

if both are available, preference is given to imagemagick.

so if you don't see a note saying that the imagemagick path is wrong, imagemagick is used.
