PhotoQ incompatibility with other Plugins

It's a me Mar... ehm DeBing xD

I got something new about the PhotoQ Plugin:
I have discovered problems/incompatibilities with a lot of other plugins. It seems that it is not possible to run PhotoQ with other plugins which modificate posts like the "Like" or the "GD star rating" plugin. The new plugins work properly but you can't post any photos from the queue (blank site will be shown) and i really have 80M free RAM (using the "http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-memory-usage/" plugin too see this). The other plugins and wordpress uses up to 45M from 128M and so i don't think its an memory issue. The GD-Lib will not use more than 90M for creating thumbnails and adding a watermark. I couldn't test imagemagick because of my webhoster so i have no alternative to temporarily deactivate the plugins i would pleased to use. Second i
would be interested if some other could test if they can run Wordpress + PhotoQ + Like + GD star rating without problems.Ph

i just installed the two plugins you mention (with their default settings) and everything works fine for me. photoq (with gd library, no imagemagick) works as expected and all the buttons generated by the two other plugins are shown on the blog.

how big are your images? did you try whether it works with smaller ones?

Strange, ehm the files are about 200KB ~ 500KB. And no i didn't tried smaller ones, because they works fine when i deactivate the gd star rating. And eventhrough gd would still have more than 80 MB memory for creating a clone picture & thumbnail.

But i see, that i forgot to tell you that i am still using PhotoQ 1.8.3 with Wordpress 2.9.2 and i can't "upgrade" it because of a "undefined" is_multisite() function in a load.php (in wp_includes) when i want to activate the new PhotoQ Plugin. The load.php is only given in Wordpress 3.0.

And even after upgrading Wordpress to 3.0 and PhotoQ to 1.9 it still don't work on my provider.

did you try the following?

- a fresh install of wordpress 3.0
- photoq with default settings
- gd star with default settings
- nothing else

if no, could you try this and see whether it works. if it doesn't can you give me more info on your setup. if it doesn't work, you could also try changing the following line (47) in the file whoismanu-photoq.php from

define('PHOTOQ_DEBUG_LEVEL', PHOTOQ_DEBUG_OFF);

to

define('PHOTOQ_DEBUG_LEVEL', PHOTOQ_SHOW_PHP_ERRORS);

and see whether you get an error message then.

Ok will try a test-installation @ my provider. But about the logging: even if i activate it and copy a log-lib (a newer then you registerd in the PhotoQHelper), the logging function fails. But i tried it with 1.8.3 and the 3. Logging Level with logging of warnings. Dunno if you have changed something in 1.9 wanted to tell you this first xD.

Ok tested it:

In a fully new Installation (new Database and so on) with all my plugins (without a theme) it doesn't work neither.
Using the following Plugins:
Akismet 2.3.0
Exec-PHP 4.9
GD Star Rating 1.9.3
Lightbox 2 2.9.2
Like 1.9.5
PhotoQ 1.9
Random Featured Post 1.1.3
Simple Tags 1.8
StatPress 1.4.1
WP-Memory-Usage 1.2.0

Making an interesting expierience:
It works fine when i activate all plugins except of "GD Star Rating" or "Simple Tags". When i activate them both PhotoQ won't publish any Photos from the Queue anymore (everything with default settings). Only after deactivating one of them PhotoQ works properly. I will try to activate the logging function and maybe i can tell you more in some minutes.

Edit: About Logging:

PHOTOQ_SHOW_PHP_ERRORS didn't show any effect or PHP Errors (when it run into a blank site).
PHOTOQ_LOG_MESSAGES "creates" PHP-Errors because it can't find the log library. After fixing the lib:

after this is stopped and i only see the normal blank site in wp-admin (menu is shown but in the content "frame" is a blank site).

works fine for me with 64M memory limit and both simple tags and gd rating and photoq on. how big are your photos size-wise (not memory-wise)? the ones i tested with are 700x525 max.

1. 934x620px ==> 2866446 ==> 2,73 MegaByte Memory needed
2. 857x569px ==> 2413783 ==> 2,30 MegaByte Memory needed

So even so there should be enough memory avaible.

But even so, when i use 43.24M and GD uses 2.3(=44.54M) or 2.73M(=44.97M) i am still under 45M

well, i would say that 44.54 and 44.97 are both pretty hard at the limit :-) (and i don't think these numbers are all that exact)

the memory plugin probably reports 128M because it just prints out the ini setting. as i wrote in the other post, i am not sure why on some hosts the effective memory doesn't match the one from the ini settings.

but i guess we now know the reason for your problem. i also guess that you should contact your host and ask them about it and ask them to increase your limit. i would also be very interested to know why the limit found with the script doesn't match the other one. would be glad if you could tell me once you get the answer.

A small status update from me:
i wrote to the support of my hoster but still got no answer. A colleague who uses the same hoster has used the script in his directory too and he gets the same Memory limit as i do. So it seems to apply to all customers of the hoster. Unfortunately the hoster didn't answer yet.

So last update, yeah they needed so long -.-'

The hoster can't find the failure in their configuration and tell me that it is normal behaviour. Thats why i changed the hoster and now it works properly. Will test the exif patch these days because of the automatic generation for the tags.
