Hi I would like to create a photoblog that allows people to see their photos online and people can make comments against the photos. I would like to use PhotoQ and can get Wordpress2.8.1. I am totally new to this and would appreciate any feedback that can help me build my blog site using PhotoQ. Many thanks.

good choice :-).
first of all i would use the latest stable wordpress version. if you build a new site there is simply no valid reason for using an old version such as 2.8.1 which is almost one year old.
in addition to photoq you will then also need a theme. i propose that you start by having a look at iq2 (http://www.whoismanu.com/iq2-wordpress-photoblog-theme/ ). since it was specifically designed with photoq in mind, this should get you started fast. plus there is a preset for iq2 built into photoq that configures anything theme specific for you (see the photoq documentation http://www.whoismanu.com/photoq-wordpress-photoblog-plugin/ ). finally from the information you provide above, iq2 looks like a good match.
