Can't get rid of photoQCache or imgdir folders!

Yesterday I decided to test PhotoQ on my site but I couldn't get it to work (the GD error). I didn't want to mess around with any longer so I decided to remove the plugin. I deactivated it and removed the plugin folder.

But now for some reason I'm unable to delete the photoQCache and the imgdir folders from the host server! My FTP client says "access denied" or something similar. I'm having the same problem as the topic starter in this thread: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/244761

"This folder has the user & group set to Apache and you will not be able to remove it."

Does anyone have a solution for this OTHER THAN contacting my service provider and asking them to remove the folders?
