Ok you can now download the new version 1.8.2 that contains a fix for this bug. Let's hope it does the job.

From what I saw, in 1.8 it must have been rare (quite a few conditions met at same time) but due to the changes I made in 1.8.1 it became much more frequent :-) shit happens.

ok anyway I hope it works now. Please tell me whether the update solves your problem. Thanks.

I'll get back to you on the server info.
I didn't have a chance to do more observations, but from the little I know:

Yes, I think it happened once with manual posting. I dragged the images into order then I posted the first one... the second one lost a position. But I did that quite fast so that could have been caused by the refresh rate. And I only did this once, so I dunno if it happens often or all the time.
I used secondary button (manual) for 5 images... their order was OK.

The autoupdate said it was OK.

I think the queue had images in it when I updated.

The second image is always posted, it's pushed back no more than a couple of times.

I seriously doubt that the bug was always there and I was lucky with 1.8. It NEVER EVER happened with 1.8

update: i was able to reproduce this but unfortunately in both 1.8.1 and 1.8. so downgrading won't help unless you downgrade to the latest 1.7 version of photoq (guess you could still do this but there i really don't know what the impact will be), it seems to be a bug that was already there before. you just got lucky until now...

what apparently happens if your queue gets into a certain "doomed" state (i still have to figure out how this happens exactly. rather rare event i guess however as i did not have anyone else complaining about this and 1.8 has been out for almost a month) is that the second photo never gets posted and just gets pushed back in the queue. this also corresponds to the example you wrote above. so if you post your queue until the end you get an ordering of the form 1, 3, 4, 5, ..., N-1, N, 2

i will try to patch this as soon as possible. i'll keep you updated.

one more thing just came to my mind. was your queue full or empty when you upgraded?

if it was not empty i might start to see where this could come from.

of course i am not able to reproduce this :-), at least not so far and not on my development machine. but yes, i had to change one thing regarding the queue ordering in the last update, so it is definitely not out of the question that i introduced a bug by doing so.

could you give me some information on your setup: win/linux/mac server? php4 or 5?
does it happen also if you hit post top of queue? or is it via the secondary post button? or via cronjobs only?

also are you sure that the update went over correctly, i.e. that every file got replaced?
to be sure you could maybe delete the entire photoq folder and copy the new one there again.

finally, regarding downgrading. i did not try but as far as i can see you should be able to just copy it over the new one. but again, i didn't test this and backups are always a good idea.

Everything worked fine and I never had any problems with PhotoQ, until I updated to version 1.8.1
I did the update last night then I uploaded some images into the queue and went to sleep.
Today I found them posted in a different order. It seems to be random.
Here is an image example: http://www.meh.ro/photoqorderbug.png

I think it only affects the first 3 posts (but I'm not sure)

I noticed a pattern. I put pictures A, B and C into queue:
1.A
2.B
3.C
After picture A is posted the queue looks like this:
1.C
2.B
It seems that when a picture is posted, the second one loses its position.
The pattern doesn't repeat itself immediately, otherwise picture B would've never been posted. I guess the patter is either more complex (chaotic even) than this, or it alternates... one normal posting, one position losing posting.

And I keep having this problem... pictures always lose their position.
Wordpress 2.8.4
meh.ro

Thanks

PS Could you tell me how to safely downgrade to 1.8.0, so I don't lose any content & settings or screw things up? :>
I can live with a slow admin panel, but I can't have this posting bug.
