yes you did. and yes, i guess on the front page the link should stay. i will probably add this back in the next version.

however, in the case of your setting this might still create a problem. if i add back the link to the next image on the frontpage and you use it with image links for shutter reloaded, this will create a double link (problem you had before and not valid html) on the frontpage. i don't see an easy solution for this.

but what you could do already right now, is just have the frontpage appear like any other single page, i.e. with the next previous links and with the option to leave a comment. how to adapt iq2 to achieve this is explained here: http://www.whoismanu.com/forum/topic/modifying-iq2

my settings are:
(iq2-settings: "main-photo refers to previous post" is unchecked)
views->(content)-> image link

this does the job perfectly - one thing, though: in my introducing post (the one that opens when you open the blog), there is no possibility to open the comments/description field. would be nice if this could be opened!

[[i try to make myself clearer on my idea, i posted before you updated to 1.2.1:
when your settings were:
views->(content)->single image

and you then clicked on the image of your picture, the comment/description opened. ANOTHER click on the image would send you to "previous entry". (like in your demo: http://www.whoismanu.com/iq2-demo/)
it would be perfect, when this SECOND click opened the original-sized picture via Shutter Reloaded. - so the picture could FIRST stand for itsself (without commenting-field), people who would like to comment, could click on the image to open the commenting-field. and people who THEN also wanted to see the full-scale image could see it with ANOTHER click on the image..]]

hope i could make myself clear?!

i just updated iq2 because i found some small not so nice things. at the same time i included your suggestion. as of iq2 1.2.1 you can thus get rid of the link to the previous post by simply unchecking a checkbox in the iq2 settings. The above hacks are no longer needed.

hmm, i don't really get your point. especially i don't understand what you mean by this

i CAN switch settings to photo-link, but then the first link does the job i want the second to do..

anyway, here is the setup you should have to achieve what you want:

1. remove the link from the template according to my last post (according to your last post, you successfully did that, with the standard iq2 settings you then have no link at all)
2. views->thumbnail needs to stay at its default, i.e. "single image" showing "thumbnail"
3. views->content should be changed to "image link", "main linking to original"

alright..
my settings should still be: photoq-view-single photo (not photo-link), right?
i inserted this line, and now there's no link at all (not even the first one linking to the comments and so on).
i CAN switch settings to photo-link, but then the first link does the job i want the second to do..

thanks a lot for your answer. and thanks for reporting this bug.

yes, of course i will add this correction in the next version of photoq.

i also agree with your suggestion for the image link option for iq2. note that photoq anyway already supports this. so by changing the default photoq options to use an image link and installing shutter reloaded, you should already be able to achieve what you want right now!

To be on the safe side and to prevent two nested links from being included, you may want to remove the current link to the next photo from iq2. this can be done without a lot of hacking

open classes/iQ2Theme.php in a text editor

find the following line inside the showMainPhoto function
if($link) echo '<a href="' . $link .'" rel="bookmark" title="'.$linkTitle.'">';

just above it insert a new line
$link = false;

save the file. done. enjoy.

ok, cool thanks.. i don't find any option via wordpress' admin, but i just copied it over via http://ftp..

you might want to include the string you copied in your second answer to the next photoq version, because i had the same problem with 1.8 now (and could correct it with the string).

another thing would be perfect:
when you choose "single photo" as your option, and click on your image in your posts the description, comments, prev/next will appear -- this is great. but i'd love it, when the next click on the image would rather link to an original (or bigger sized) image (that's presented to the viewer via Shutter Reloaded, for example..) than to 'previous picture'. previous and next-links are given anyway with the thumbnails..
.. that would be awesome :-)

greetings! nico

the usual way is either

1. just copy the new photoq-photoblog-plugin folder over the old one via ftp

or

2. auto-upgrade: which is found under the PhotoQ entry of the WordPress "Plugins" tab in your WordPress admin area.

..sorry, but how do i exactly update the photoq plugin?
in my german translation in: settings-photoq-maintenance it only says: "upgrade from versions < 1.5" - but i do have 1.7

(although you write in one of your posts "Note that as of PhotoQ 1.6.5 upgrading functions are under “Settings->PhotoQ->Maintenance”." -- might there be a mistranslation?)

in another post it says: "Upgrading to PhotoQ 1.7 is done in the usual way, most easily via the WordPress auto-upgrade feature. " -- where would i find this auto-upgrade feature of plugins?

i guess there is an obvious solution, but i'm new to all this and couldn't easily find an answer by googling..

just update photoq to 1.8 and your problem should go away. the issue is that iq2 and photoq share a common library and this library changed in the last update. in your case you still have photoq 1.7 installed, so iq2 loaded the library from photoq 1.7 but it needs the one from 1.8.
to activate photoq 1.8, iq2 doesn't have to be activated, the only condition is that iq2 1.1 is not running, otherwise photoq 1.8 will try to load the library from iq2 1.1 which again is not the good one...

...not very nice i know, but i couldn't yet find any good solution to this because wordpress plugins need to be compliant with php4 which doesn't support namespaces...

yes! this did the trick :-)

but now i've got another problem: because i wanted to update to 1.8 from 1.7 (photoq), i also wanted to update the iq2 from 1.1 to 1.2. so i deleted my 1.1 and wanted to activate 1.2 prior to updating photoq.. when entering the iq2-settings it tells me:

..and there's missing basically everything but the text and images on my homepage..

error in new version, on error at my place?

my 'system's data':
-webspace @ bplaced.net
-wordpress Version 2.8.4 DE-Edition
-php dunno? where can i look this up?

ok, googled a bit and probably you are using the new php 5.3, am i right? apparently with 5.3 some stuff that worked fine in earlier php versions (i tested with versions up to 5.2.5) now do not work anymore.

could you replace line 184 in /classes/PhotoQBatch.php where it says

$status = call_user_func_array(array(&$context,$functionName), array_merge($args, array($state)));

and tell me whether this makes your issues go away?

hi,

i am very new to all this, so be please be patient with my incompetence and naivety (-:

first of all i'd like to thank the programmer for this very beautiful theme!

i have a problem when changing settings

if i try to change any setting in admin-settings-photoq it tells me:
Warning: Parameter 10 to PhotoQ::batchRebuildPublished() expected to be a reference, value given in /users/(...)/www/wp-content/plugins/photoq-photoblog-plugin/classes/PhotoQBatch.php on line 184

Fatal error: Call to a member function hasError() on a non-object in /users/(...)/www/wp-content/plugins/photoq-photoblog-plugin/classes/PhotoQBatch.php on line 186
. when i hit save settings again, it tells me it worked, though ("settings saved") - but the already uploaded images were not updated on the new settings :-|

i thought the problem might be the ".htaccess"-files, or rather the mod_security Apache module. i couldn't find any .htaccess file on my webspace (still not after "forece show hidden files"), so i simply created a "1.htaccess.txt", included the
<IfModule mod_security.c>
SecFilterEngine Off
SecFilterScanPOST Off
</IfModule>
, uploaded it (in the directory with index.php) and renamed it to ".htaccess"..

..well didn't work out ;-D

any ideas ?

greetings from germany! nico
