moved your post to its own thread since it doesn't seem to be the same problem discussed here. you can find the new thread here: http://www.whoismanu.com/forum/topic/batch-upload-creates-wordpress-database-error

and i assume it is not iq2/photoq related because non of this looks familiar at all to me. it just doesn't ring a bell :-). but i can of course be wrong.

judging from the error it could be related to .htaccess / rewriting rules / permalinks but again i am also quite in the dark about this one.

can you see from the access logs which site was accessed just before the error occurs?

To be honest, I have no idea what is causing this. The only reason I assume it is related to PhotoQ/IQ2 is that it started as soon as I upgraded these two components. I can't find anything on the web describing a similar problem so I'm completely in the dark. Looking at the number of warning emails i am getting, I am pretty sure it happens on every visit to the site.

If you don't think this could be PhotoQ/IQ2 related, I'll post the question over on the Wordpress forum and see if anyone there can offer any suggestions.

are you sure this is a photoq/iq2 pbl? doesn't really look like this to me.

does this happen for every single time someone visits your site? or is it always the same user?

otherwise, at least for photoq you can easily check by deactivating it (which does not alter the look of your site for your users) and see whether you still get these messages.

Since updating to the latest version if PhotoQ and IQ2, I'm seeing some rather annoying behaviour that I can't explain. Can anyone offer any hints on this?

Whenever anyone visits my site (www.davewilsonphotography.com) I get a WordPress warning email telling me that "A user tried to go to http://davewilsonphotography.com/user/perm_login?status and received a 404 (page not found) error. It wasn't their fault, so try fixing it."

I've grepped a copy of my site and can't find anywhere referencing "perm_login". I suspect this is some check to determine if a user is logged in but I have absolutely no idea what is going on.

My version of PhotoQ is completely unaltered but I have made some minor edits to IQ2 file header.php, footer.php and styles.css via the WordPress Dashboard theme editor. In this process, I've not modified any PHP code, merely added some links and added my the masthead graphic.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions,

Dave Wilson

thanks for sharing this. often problems with javascript are also simply due to a stale browser cache. emptying the cache and reloading the page often solves such problems as well.

I just thought I'd post this here as it might help others.

I've spent several days trying to get the admin section and the post images page of PhotoQ to work. The problem was that the AJAX/Javascript wouldn't load for PhotoQ and the Robots Meta plugin. Everything else was working.

I just couldn't figure out what made it out of whack. Upgraded everything, reinstalled everything, did the plugin dance, hunted through the database, basically flipped every switch there is in wordpress.

The problem turned out to be with Gears which I had installed a long time ago. Google said my version was working and up to date but I reinstalled anyway and ta-da: PhotoQ was back to normal.

I posted in the wrong area... I posted on the Blog and then after I posted, I saw the message about the support forum. So, I am getting the same message. My concern is the path is wrong for where the files are. There is a second drive letter in the middle that does not exist in the real world. My error is:
The file upload failed with the following error: Unable to create directory D:\W3Sites\n7xei.com\www\wp/D:/W3Sites/n7xei.com/www/wp/wp-content/qdir. Is its parent directory writable by the server?.

Hi

I have the exact same error, just with a different path: "The file upload failed with the following error: Unable to create directory C:\inetpub\wwwroot/C:/inetpub/wwwroot/wp-content/qdir. Is its parent directory writable by the server?."

I can upload files with WP's "ordinary" picture uploader without any trouble. Batch uploader doesnt give a error msg, but a SQL error, most likely becouse there is no files uploaded to the sql "properties" is empty when posting to the database.

I use Windows Server 2008 x64 and PHP 5.5
I have tried with both GD and ImageMagick.

Any help would be appritiated.

Hi

I am very new to wordpress and setting up themes. But I want to create my own photoblog and was facinated with PhotoQ. Currently I am working on my site on local machine with WAMPSERVER running on WinXP, Wordpress 2.8.4 and PhotoQ 1.8.

I have gone through each step.
- Image Directory is setup as wp-content.
- Batch Uploads is checked (enabled).
all these options saved. But "the fun part" was not at all fun for me :(. When I tried to Add photos to Queue, It showed as if the images were loaded with progress bars. But after entering the common info I clicked "Enter Info>>" and "Save Batch Info>>" buttons. But the screen still shows "Queue empty, why not upload some photos?". I tried since morning with no luck. I even removed the Batch Upload option. Still it didn't work. But I got a different error message.
"The file upload failed with the following error: Unable to create directory C:\wamp\www\heysri\blog/C:/wamp/www/heysri/blog/wp-content/qdir. Is its parent directory writable by the server?.".
Not very sure why/how did the path copied twice. I have my wordpress folder "blog" under website heysri ((i.e. C:\wamp\www\heysri\blog). The qdir was created in wp-content but with no files. I am able to create files/folders in this directory. PLEASE HELP!! I really want to make my plog (photo-log) work!!

Please let me know if you need any more information.

Regards
Sri

sorry for my late reply.

cvanmeer, yes you are right. i already built in the 2.8 compatibility and you can activate in exactly the way you point out above. i did not activate it yet because i wanted to test it with the final 2.8 first. now unfortunately it came out during my vacation...so thanks a lot for pointing this temporary fix to the other users.

i will now try to roll out a new version that includes this by default.

To resolve these issues (correct me if I am wrong) untill there is a new version of PhotoQ, do the following:

- Go to line 92, place a /*

- Go to line 134, remove the /*
- Go to line 173, remove the */

All done.
