@Whoismanu

I've just tried your presets for Aufocus+. Two things don't work and I don't know why :

1/ The name "single-post-thumbnail" is too long. I can't create a new "image size" preset.

2/ Images in the index don't fit with boxes, they are resized 450x300 px. There's this <img width="450" height="300" src="http://..." inserted just before front page images url. I have not find where it comes from. If I post a picture without photoq, it works well.

Thank you.

I experimented a little with the different settings (using the beta of both PhotoQ and iq2). I like all of this a lot, but am struggling a little bit with the same issues that Unico and dawilson, the posters of the two threads that you linked to, struggled with as well. Of course I realize that not everything that I want may be possible.

I'll describe in a bit more detail what I'd like.

1) Like dawilson, the poster in the other thread you linked to, I'd like the "single" page including the "prev" thumbnail link to be the front page, and any comments. When I replaced index.php with single.php, what I got was a front page that consists of my 10 latest posts. (Would that be considered a bug, or is it something weird with my installation, or is it expected?)

2) Also I'd like the main photo to link to the original size; I've got this working with your assistance - thanks! (Or maybe another big size, say max dimension 1200 or so; but I think I can figure that out with the custom sizes etc.)

3) It says on your site that iq2 is widget compatible. How do I make widgets appear on my pages? I tried dragging and dropping some stuff to "Sidebar 1" in WP admin -> Appearance -> widgets, but it doesn't show up on my page.

Let me know if you need more information. Thanks a lot again, and thanks in general for writing this very cool plugin & theme combination!

Hi,
Thanks for your response. I have upgraded to v2beta and changes things as you suggested. The result is not bad. The first problem is solved, but several problems remains or have appeared:
On the front page, the 800x300 size, is not good, but only for the pictures published after the upgrade. I don't understand why, i was thinking that all sizes where regenerated when i change in photoQ paramaters (and i've made it several times in the maintenance part of photoQ). I've tried 800x300 with crop but it doesnt fit neither.
The other problem: i've added 3 pictures after the upgrade to 2.0b, and only these's pictures have a featured picture added.
Autofocus documentation speak about sticky posts to be in 1 row with automatic slide on the front page but it doesn't work. Is it sticky post or featured images? In fact none of them seems to work.
http://millesabords.net/blog4test

hi

you can try with the current photoq beta version for version 2.0 (the 1.9 version doesn't support featured images. to download and install the beta, check here http://www.whoismanu.com/blog/2010/10/test-photoq-2-0-beta/ ). however i didn't have time to make a preset yet. but you can setup photoq yourself for autofocus+ by using the following photoq settings:

- check the "Automatically set featured image" box under "Autogenerated Information"
- content view: check freeform and put

[descr]

[exif]

into the corresponding field
- excerpt view: freeform as well and [descr] only in the field
- add the following image sizes (otherwise the photos will be browser-resized):
* post-thumbnail, 88x88, crop
* archive-thumbnail, 188x188
* single-post-thumbnail, 800x600
* front-page-thumbnail, 800x300
- change the size of main image size to 494x494

i hope this works.

HI,
I'm trying to convert my actual photoblog (Pixelpost) to WP PhotoQ. I've tried differents themes and i'm quiet happy with autofocus .
Autofocus preset provided with photoq works fine with autofocus theme, but with the new version of autofocus theme (the free one), the image is shown twice in the single post view. (look at http://millesabords.net/blog4test/).
Does anyone already have solve this problem ? I don't understand if i need to make a preset to solve this problem and how.
Thanks a lot for your help.

i understand that what you want is probably something like a ligthtbox-style pop-up of the original size? if so this can already be done:

1. in photoq settings: change views->content from "single photo" to "image link" and the corresponding dropdowns to "main" linking to "original".
2. uncheck "Main photo links to previous post." in iq2 settings
3. install a lightbox plugin like shutter reloaded. the full size images are then shown on the same page in an overlay.
4. finally, you might want to get rid of the current iq2 frontpage. you should be able to achieve this by renaming single.php to index.php, see also here http://www.whoismanu.com/forum/topic/modifying-iq2

hi,

i don't have any detailed instructions at hand. note, however, that a photoq picture corresponds to a standard wordpress post. you then have several options of where to store your image sizes. you can use the content and excerpt area like the iq2 theme does. iq2 also fetches and displays the previous and next thumb (although not via ajax), so i suggest you look there to see how this can be achieved.
all information needed to display any of the different sizes of a picture are also stored in the photoQImageSizes custom field that accompanies every post created with photoq (the documentation has an example of how to get data out of this field: http://www.whoismanu.com/photoq-wordpress-photoblog-plugin/ ).

I guess this is an iQ2 theme request. I'd like to give my users the option to get a bigger size than the iQ2 default. Or is there a way to do that already, using the different image sizes?

Dead on accurate. I exported the table to a SQL file, used Notepad++ to make the change, reimported the table and did a complete rebuild. I had replaced the entire images directory with a copy from the production site, so all the pics were there. It ran through the rebuild with no issues.

the photoQPath is stored as a custom field. so these would be all entries in the postmeta table that have a meta_key of photoQPath.

after you edit this, you should do a rebuild all. in your case the rebuild might however still hang because as you can see above there was one image that really seemed to be missing on the server. you can either put this one back in place manually or via editing the post in quesiton and changing the current photoq photo in the wordpress editor.
