Hi,

I need to add to the photo info box the login of the user who uploaded certain photo to be displayed in the frontend. Something like "Taken by: ..." between description and tags. It would be nice if clicking the login could display all photos taken by the particular author.

Is there an option for it or is it a future feature? Or maybe it's not difficult to add knowing PHP? Any hint will be very appreciated.

Hey there, I finally decided it was time to stop hacking my old theme and create a clean theme based on IQ2. Since you update it quite regularly, I decided to go the clean route and create a child theme so I don't lose all my modifications at every upgrade.

I'm following the explanations from the codex here: http://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes

So far, everything works as expected with style.css or header.php, but I'm having issues adding a new colour theme and using it. I must be missing something...

Here is my folder structure:

|/wp-content/themes/iq2 (has the full iq2 theme)
|--colors
|/wp-content/themes/iq2-child
|---colors
|----iq2-color-new-set.css
|--header.php
|--style.css

When the new color set only exists in iq2/colors, it is detected as expected on the settings page.
When the new color set only exists in iq2-child/colors, it is not listed on the settings page.

As a workaround, I copied the css file in both locations, but this behaviour does not feel right. What is the file I need to override in the child theme so that I only have to place my css file in the child folder, not the parent one.

Hey everyone,

On my installation (http://www.laura-and-erik.com/ erik/blog/, without the space; the new photoQ and iQ2 beta versions), I seem to have some remotely similar symptoms; there's no error in the settings page, but the sidebar still doesn't appear. However, in my case (since I use the new beta version of iQ2) the register_sidebar call is already outside the if. Is there any setting that I could have that would mess with the display of sidebars? I did some minimal debugging and while the register_sidebar call must run (I temporarily put an 'echo "x";' after it, and the "x" showed up), there's no "widgettitle" in the generated page.

I have selected a couple of widgets to be displayed in the sidebar, and they do appear in the "about" and "archive" pages, but not next to the regular photo page.

Thanks!
Erik.

I experimented a little with the different settings (using the beta of both PhotoQ and iq2). I like all of this a lot, but am struggling a little bit with the same issues that Unico and dawilson, the posters of the two threads that you linked to, struggled with as well. Of course I realize that not everything that I want may be possible.

I'll describe in a bit more detail what I'd like.

1) Like dawilson, the poster in the other thread you linked to, I'd like the "single" page including the "prev" thumbnail link to be the front page, and any comments. When I replaced index.php with single.php, what I got was a front page that consists of my 10 latest posts. (Would that be considered a bug, or is it something weird with my installation, or is it expected?)

2) Also I'd like the main photo to link to the original size; I've got this working with your assistance - thanks! (Or maybe another big size, say max dimension 1200 or so; but I think I can figure that out with the custom sizes etc.)

3) It says on your site that iq2 is widget compatible. How do I make widgets appear on my pages? I tried dragging and dropping some stuff to "Sidebar 1" in WP admin -> Appearance -> widgets, but it doesn't show up on my page.

Let me know if you need more information. Thanks a lot again, and thanks in general for writing this very cool plugin & theme combination!

i understand that what you want is probably something like a ligthtbox-style pop-up of the original size? if so this can already be done:

1. in photoq settings: change views->content from "single photo" to "image link" and the corresponding dropdowns to "main" linking to "original".
2. uncheck "Main photo links to previous post." in iq2 settings
3. install a lightbox plugin like shutter reloaded. the full size images are then shown on the same page in an overlay.
4. finally, you might want to get rid of the current iq2 frontpage. you should be able to achieve this by renaming single.php to index.php, see also here http://www.whoismanu.com/forum/topic/modifying-iq2

I guess this is an iQ2 theme request. I'd like to give my users the option to get a bigger size than the iQ2 default. Or is there a way to do that already, using the different image sizes?

Thanks,

ok, this really was a stupid bug that crept in. it is also easy to fix. what you have to do is to edit iq2/classes/iQ2Theme.php. just move the part that deals with the sidebar and says

//register the sidebar
register_sidebar(
 array('before_title' => '<h3 class="widgettitle">','after_title' => '</h3>')
);

out of the
if
block it currently resides in, such that the result looks like this

...

require_once(IQ2_PATH . 'classes/IQ2Helpers.php');

//register the sidebar
register_sidebar(
 array('before_title' => '<h3 class="widgettitle">','after_title' => '</h3>')
);

if(is_admin()){
 //add the theme admin menu

...

hi faseeh,

glad you like the theme.

you need to strip the things you don't want to show from the single.php file. in your case you probably want to delete everything that is inside the photoInfoBox div. looking at your page at http://www.faseehshams.com/ it seems that you already found how to do that :-)

the comments are removed by deleting (also from single.php) the line that says: comments_template();
