you are right, this doesn't make a lot of sense for iq2. must be a relict from the template on my webpage (from which iq2 was derived) where users sometimes copy code to comments that i wanted to show as is.

you can just delete the line in question or comment it out. it will be gone in the next iq2 version anyway.

thanks a lot for pointing this out.

I have 2 blogs using WordPress 2.8 and have been tearing my hair out trying to figure out why HTML in comments is rendered correctly in one (http://blog.webartz.net) but not the other (http://www.davewilsonphotography.com). I've finally delved into the PHP for the IQ2 theme and see the following which I suspect is the cause of my problem:

add_filter('pre_comment_content','wp_specialchars');

As far as I can tell, this escapes all the HTML in comments. I would love the comments to be parsed using the same process as is used by my other blog (i.e. allowing all HTML that I have explicitly allowed via the list in the wp-includes/kses.php file). My assumption is that removing the add_filter line will cause this to happen but, being a PHP and WordPress newbie, I'm worried that I will be doing some damage elsewhere by doing this.

Can anyone tell me why IQ2 adds this comment filtering and whether removing it is dangerous?

Thanks,

Dave Wilson

i see you are using iq2. iq2 right now only shows photoq posts. it discriminates between photoq posts and non-photoq posts based on whether the photoQPath custom field is present. i guess that your photos will show up if you add this one.

on the other hand i am not sure how photoq will treat posts like this when you e.g. try to edit them or when you update for example the size of some photoq image setting.

if you know how to do that (i.e. if you know some PHP), a better solution might be to tinker with the isPhotoPost function in iQ2Theme.php. you could e.g. start by setting it to always return true (i.e. every photo treated as a photoq photo) and see what happens. now that i think about it, probably what it should do anyway, guess i just wanted to play it safe :-)

I have a sort of a strange problem. Maybe I can best describe the problem if you first take a look at my site. I have several regular photo-posts...and some 360 panorama shots (which are SWF files and I created manually and also created a custom thumbnail) When I click on the Archives link, they show up as thumbnails (if you look on my site, the last 2 thumbnails are the 360-panorama-shots) But if click at thumbnail nr 3 (the third-last), I don't see the thumbnail of the 360-posts, so users can only access my 360-shots by the Archives link? Anyway to solve this?

thanks for your report. the footer running over the whole page in some cases is a confirmed bug. will be fixed in next release of iq2.

i guess you don't have permalinks activated in your wordpress settings. if you activate them, the 404 page will be taken and you won't have the problem with the broken footer either.

Gaj wrote,

Hi, when i get a Not Found error. I am guessing the file is not taken from 404.php, which file do i have to change to customise my error message. For now it just shows "Not found" and "search site form"

Sorry, i forgot to mention, its the archive page that i am trying to access. If nothing is added to show in archive the footer goes through the whole page and theme looks broken.
