it had seemed THE perfect plugin for my family networksite... but that won't cut it with one photo per post...

unfortunately there will be no clover for me (or at least not for now...). right now photoq is one photo = one post. the "multiple photos in one post" feature has been planned, requested and promised for ages. however, i just haven't found time for it yet, i am really sorry...

Hello!

New WP user here. It's quite late and I've spent hours looking for a solution, so forgive me if this is obvious/redundant/a loathsome subject/etc. I'm a bit fuzzy headed right now.

- WP 3.0.1
- PhotoQ 1.9
- OS Windows Vista (forgive me)
- Firefox 3.6.3
- theme is a modified "Wallingford and Broadway": http://www.seattle-blog-themes.net/templates/wallingford-and-broadway.html
- http://www.tourabsurd.com (previously tourabsurd.tumblr.com; old material still there)

I am wondering if there is a setting I've missed that allows all the bulk-uploaded photos to be placed into ONE blog post. My blog often has many, many photos, but the commentary is equally a part of the scheme.

I started with Photoblog.com, moved to Tumblr about a year ago, then decided I wanted something more shiny and sparkly, so switched to self-hosted WP site. Typically, when I post pictures of a trip I do it in the style I learned on photoblog.com: pick the photos, upload all at once as a draft, then go in and add commentary/narrative before publishing. That's what I did with Tumblr, as well. Have been pulling my hair out trying to find a way to do that with WP.

Very glad to have found your plugin, as the default photo upload options for WP contributed to a great deal of profanity and hairpulling today. Now... can it do this one, last, magical thing? Oh, please say yes! I'll send you some Irish clover if you do.

Thanks muchly.

thanks for your report. i apparently forgot a reference to the old ajax script in the code. guess that is what causes problems in your case (not in my case though).

I think that if you delete the following line (#145) from PhotoQSettingsPageHandler.php you should be fine:

var ajaxUrl = "<?php echo plugins_url('photoq-photoblog-plugin/whoismanu-photoq-ajax.php'); ?>";

please tell me whether this solves your problem. thanks.

confirmed this bug in photoq 1.8.3. it is fixed in the following patch

1. download the patch: http://www.whoismanu.com/wp-content/photoq/patches/PhotoQFTPUploadPatch.zip

I have developed a photoblog site to automatically receive and display webcam images using WordPress 2.9.2, the PhotoQ 1.8.3 plugin, and the iQ2 1.2.3 theme. Everything is beautiful except for uploading images from the directory on the server where the camera sends them.

The issue is this: PhotoQ's option to batch upload images from a directory on the server fails. Although set up to be triggered by a cron job, the upload fails even when initiated manually.

The manual process goes like this: On the PhotoQ post page, I choose Select Photos, then from the selection page choose Import from FTP Directory. I get a list of files in the FTP directory and fields to enter common info. I add info, check off the images I want, and press Import/Enter Info. At this point, if the single post process is an indicator, it should show the images being processed. Instead, it goes straight to the Save Batch Info page, and when that button is pressed, back to the PhotoQ post page saying that the queue is still empty - and in fact no files have been uploaded. There are no error messages anywhere in this process.

Some context details:
1) uploading manually one at a time using the single post option and selecting the image through the File Open dialog works fine.

2) the option to allow uploading from an FTP directory has been enabled.

3) batch uploading has been switched both on and off: same result either way;

4) memory shouldn't be a problem - the files are small (640x480, 60-70k) and the number of files makes no difference.

5) the FTP upload directory has been correctly configured (PhotoQ can see the files) and has the broadest possible permission set (777);

6) the 4/12/10 patched version of PhotoQ.php has been installed;

7) the issue is exactly the same in my customized almost-ready-for-prime-time (except for this issue) hosted version of my site and in a minimal, stripped-down (just WP, PhotoQ, and iQ2 - no other plug-ins, no modifications) local version, which should eliminate both my theme customizations and my host as culprits. Host is Linux-based, local is Windows-based.

I've run out of ideas to check. Any direction would be very much appreciated.

Thanks.

hi,

so at first I increased memory limit to 128 meg, which helped with GD.
Now with the patch, the Imagemagick path information stays set in the options and there is no error message.
When publishing, I have no error messages either, but I am not sure which GL Photoq uses, since both should be available...
can I tell somehow which one is being used?

i think i got it:
auto-updating wordpress and plugins work fine, however i encountered the same upload problem with the media library.
After rechecking I found the upload_tmp_dir in php.ini empty, so that did the trick so far. I kinda knew there was inconsistent upload behavior but it worked in 2.7.1 so I figured it cant be wrong for 2.9.x but it was.

Works fine with batch uploads now, too. Yippie!

Hope that solves it and php.ini does not get overwritten by some cronjob / script / higher up directive...

Thanks alot for the pointers!

Sidenote: Is Imagemagick now necessary for photoq?
When trying to publish, I get this message:
"All attempts to create GD image source failed.
ImageMagick is not installed (it is highly recommended that you install it).
Source image is too large (800x600 = 0.5Mpx, max=13.4Mpx) for GD creation (either install ImageMagick or increase PHP memory_limit to at least 68M)."
(and a whole lot more of that stuff, basically saying I need Imagemagick).

ok, I disabled batch uploads in the options menu. But when trying to publish with PhotoQ, it still wants the common information for batch uploads and it still loses the picture when I click "Import/Enter Information". This happens when using the Import from FTP Directory option.

Direct uploads fail immediately with the message "The file upload failed with the following error: Es fehlt ein temporärer Ordner.." - where do I specify the temporary directory for PhotoQ? Maybe there is a server setting that needs to be set in order for this to work?

yes, it would be good if you could first verify that it works w/o batch uploads.

for this you need to disable batch uploads in the photoq settings (under further options).

Hi,

after some time I tried again to update Wordpress (from 2.7.1. to 2.9.2) and PhotoQ (from 1.6 to 1.83) and I am still experiencing the same problem which kept me from updating before:

After uploading photos / specifiying the ftp directory and entering the common batch info, right after pressing "Importieren / Informationen eingeben" (Import / Enter Info), PhotoQ loses the beforehand recognized photos. So I cannot publish at all with the new WP/PhotoQ.

It would be great if you could give me a hint as to where to look for (and fix) the error. Any idea why PhotoQ loses the uploads in the new version?

BTW, the database convert worked without problems, so the published fotos look like they should and can be batch manipulated by PhotoQ, I just can't publish new ones.

Thx alot 4 your great effort with the plugin,
mo

PS: How can I publish single photos (to test if that works)? Is it just the function "Publish first foto" from the menu?
