I fixed the same problem with PhotoQ 1.6.5 simply using Help folder of the program. They have instructions there.

and i assume it is not iq2/photoq related because non of this looks familiar at all to me. it just doesn't ring a bell :-). but i can of course be wrong.

judging from the error it could be related to .htaccess / rewriting rules / permalinks but again i am also quite in the dark about this one.

can you see from the access logs which site was accessed just before the error occurs?

BTW, I checked the raw access logs on the server and it does seem to be all users that trigger the warning.

To be honest, I have no idea what is causing this. The only reason I assume it is related to PhotoQ/IQ2 is that it started as soon as I upgraded these two components. I can't find anything on the web describing a similar problem so I'm completely in the dark. Looking at the number of warning emails i am getting, I am pretty sure it happens on every visit to the site.

If you don't think this could be PhotoQ/IQ2 related, I'll post the question over on the Wordpress forum and see if anyone there can offer any suggestions.

are you sure this is a photoq/iq2 pbl? doesn't really look like this to me.

does this happen for every single time someone visits your site? or is it always the same user?

otherwise, at least for photoq you can easily check by deactivating it (which does not alter the look of your site for your users) and see whether you still get these messages.

Since updating to the latest version if PhotoQ and IQ2, I'm seeing some rather annoying behaviour that I can't explain. Can anyone offer any hints on this?

Whenever anyone visits my site (www.davewilsonphotography.com) I get a WordPress warning email telling me that "A user tried to go to http://davewilsonphotography.com/user/perm_login?status and received a 404 (page not found) error. It wasn't their fault, so try fixing it."

I've grepped a copy of my site and can't find anywhere referencing "perm_login". I suspect this is some check to determine if a user is logged in but I have absolutely no idea what is going on.

My version of PhotoQ is completely unaltered but I have made some minor edits to IQ2 file header.php, footer.php and styles.css via the WordPress Dashboard theme editor. In this process, I've not modified any PHP code, merely added some links and added my the masthead graphic.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions,

Dave Wilson

I think you are in the clear since I tested single image upload via the Wordpress dashboard. Come to think of it, I'm pretty sure that the Wordpress batch upload has never worked for me so I have just subconsciously avoided using it. I'll go back and see if this fix also cures that problem.

exactly what i suspected. now where it gets interesting is that you say the wordpress standard uploads work with mod_security enabled. when you tried to upload via the dashboard, did you upload single images or did you also try to upload a batch?

i am interested in this because if wordpress batch uploads work (and they use the same script photoq uses) with mod_security i have to revise my upload process to include the same workaround.

I think I've got to the bottom of this. It seems that mod_security was added with the recent server upgrade and that was causing the problem. Once I apply the .htaccess change mentioned in the troubleshooting page, batch uploads start working again.

Yes, it does! Thanks - I now have a workaround. The question remains, however, of why batch uploads started failing for no apparent reason. Any ideas? Also, if this kind of thing happens again, is there any kind of diagnostic log I can look at to figure out what's up? I'm no PHP expert and have no access to a PHP debugger to step through the code and try to figure things out. On top of that, the error message doesn't really offer me any hints. My guess is that the 404 refers to an HTTP "not found" error but it would be really nice to know exactly what wasn't found.

I'm using PhotoQ 1.6.5 and everything has been working perfectly until this evening when, for no apparent reason, I have started getting "Upload error 404" after attempting to add any new image to my queue. This occurs immediately after the red upload status bar reaches the end of its travel (presumably indicating that all image data has been sent to the server). I've checked to ensure that I've not hit any storage limit (I haven't) and that I can still upload the image to the WordPress media library via the dashboard (I can). The only other thing that happened recently (but not since my last successful post) was that the server PHP and Apache versions were updated.

Can anyone offer any hints as to what could be going on and what I can do to debug this? The site is still serving the existing images fine but I can't post my daily updates any more.

thanks for your report. the footer running over the whole page in some cases is a confirmed bug. will be fixed in next release of iq2.

i guess you don't have permalinks activated in your wordpress settings. if you activate them, the 404 page will be taken and you won't have the problem with the broken footer either.

Gaj wrote,

Hi, when i get a Not Found error. I am guessing the file is not taken from 404.php, which file do i have to change to customise my error message. For now it just shows "Not found" and "search site form"

Sorry, i forgot to mention, its the archive page that i am trying to access. If nothing is added to show in archive the footer goes through the whole page and theme looks broken.
