So I have a lot of photos, and it would be great if there was an option in addition to "Rebuild All" that would let you rebuild some of the photos - for example, rebuild posts x through y, with user-entered variables (1 through 100 for example).

Another way to implement this would be in the "Post" page in the administration dashboard. If you could be able to check the boxes next to posts you wanted to rebuild, then under "bulk actions" there was a choice to "rebuild selected" or some such.

Thanks!

Hey, fantastic plugin.

With the easy-to-create custom content types in wordpress 3, I was wondering if it was possible to make PhotoQ play nice with custom post types and taxonomies. I'm currently dumping all of my photo posts into a "Photo" category. But I would really like to wall them off from my blog by implementing a "Photo" post type. As part of this, I'd also like to create an "Album" taxonomy similar to categories, but exclusive to the "Photo" content type. This is easy to do in wordpress, but PhotoQ doesn't see it.

I know that I can create a similar result with categories and sub-categories within posts, but this would be very elegant and scalable. Let me know your thoughts, and I hope to see this feature soon.

Here's something that would be absolutely awesome...
I already name ictures before uploading them according to the post title I want them to have in wordpress. But after uploading, there is still quite a lot of work left to tag each one of them. The chances of my connection dying or just getting bored might mean some work is lost if I need o sto in the middle of the process.

Now, how about reading the tag information from the image file name as well? This way I could upload a batch and know thaat the only thing missing will be the description, which is unique for each picture, and which I can always process one by one when I have more time.

Here is an example.
Right now, I am uploading a "01_This_is_a_nice_picture.jpg" to get a post titled "This is a Nice Picture" to appear first in the queue. I need to add tag information and a description after uploading.
I would love to be able to upload "01_This_is_a_nice_picture-tags-nice-wordpress-example.jpg" to get the tags "nice", "wordpress" and "example" automatically assigned to that post.

Does this make any sort of sense?

There's an option for having the little blurb of text in the RSS feed. That works great. I'd like to additionally put the actual image in - preferably in a custom size (which would likely be one of the sizes defined in the PhotoQ settings).

Thanks for this great plugin & theme combo!

EDIT: I am an idiot - it's the other way around, the picture shows up but not the description, despite the fact that the option is checked. Will post separate bug report; this request can be closed.

2nd EDIT: I'm an even bigger idiot - the only issue is that Google Reader doesn't display the description. Will take it up with them.

Hi!

I'm not sure if someone suggested this before.. if not: It'd be great if it was possible to rotate pictures after you uploaded them via photoq. Most pictures that you took vertically would be presented correctly with any picture-viewer, but photoq doesn't recognize this. So a lot of times I forget rotation before I upload.

Hi Manu.

I noticed that the exif data is stripped from the images and leaves them orphaned. Since it's so easy to steal images on the web it would be nice if this data could return to the images.

I found this php script that might be usefull http://www.imagemetadata.com/ (download button) and hope this is something that could be put on the probably long todo list.

A feature could be the ability to select which imagesizes are to have this data

Regards, Miklas.

Hi,

PhotoQ is fantastic, a very easy way to load multiple images into galleries. I'm really impressed.

The only thing that can be improved is the auto-cropping, resizing feature. Whilst it works well, it works best when the original images are of a similar aspect ratio to the thumbnail / single image. If for instance the image is a portrait, being cropped into a letterbox, most of the time the subject's head won't make it into the frame.

It would be amazing if it was possible to hook up an image manipulation script, like jcrop (http://deepliquid.com/content/Jcrop.html) to allow WP editors to select the best crop of each image after they've uploaded them, falling back on the default crop as needed.

How difficult would it be to get PhotoQ to integrate fully into Wordpress's built-in media library, rather than storing its data/images in other (read:non-standard) locations?

The reason I ask, I'm having difficulty getting a CDN plug-in to integrate properly because PhotoQ stores all its images/data outside the main media folders, and the CDN plug-in watches these folders and the library itself for updates. The result of this is that new PhotoQ posts do not get uploaded to the CDN. The only way around this is for the CDN plug-in to regularly scan PhotoQ's folders (/main and /original) for any changes/updates. This is very intensive work and wastes a lot of bandwidth (which you pay for with a CDN) when each item has to be cross-checked.

Hi Whoismanu

I really believe your is one of best WP plugin I have seen!
I just made you a 5 euro donation (it's second time in my life ;)) cause your plugin high quality!!!

But I have a request:
1) I want to use Wp-O-Matic RSS aggregator plugin to insert photo-post feed item in queue of PhotoQ.
SO I have tried to add and use uploadPhoto function (of classes/PhotoQ.php) in wp-o-matic code (deleting original "$postid = $this->insertPost($wpdb->...." function). But I receive always error!
I don't know very well php, I made only little adjustment to my wordpress plugins.
So I want to know how to use photoQ upload photo routine in external plugin. There is a way?

2) I use a WPMU installation with 2 blog for simplify my blogger life. WPMU blogs are only mine: so... in this case is there a trick to use FTP option in WPMU (modding internal code)?

3) I have added Imageshack upload possibility in uploadPhoto function. After several proofs now it works (and put imageshack url of original photo in a q_shack cell in queue row). If you are interested I can send you my (poor) code so you can develop concept. I believe it can be useful for people with hosting with limited file transfer.

I'm using:
- Wordpress 3 beta 1 with buddypress (and last version of PhotoQ perfectly working)
- Bluehost hosting with PHP 5 and FASTCGI

hi there.
I have been looking long for a plugin I could use to offer free foto blogs using wpmu. I tried all other competitors and this seems the most promising solution, but I found soem small problems straight away:

wpmu uses a different approach to files and paths.

i.e. wpmu is isntalled in the root, which contains the general folders like wp-content, wp-admin, etc but the individual user's files are kept in (this is from memory) wp-content/blogs.dir/[blog_id]/files so basically every blog has a unique ID which can be called by a function call, so basically all paths would have to be adjusted, with an if statement like: if wpmu detected change to this other path....

@manu: are you interested/willing to make the plugin wpmu compatible? would a donation/job offer help motivate you? I can't afford to invest much into this, but I am sure I could motivate you...

please give me some feedback on the issue...

When you add photos to queue and then enter common info, what do you think about the idea of also bringing through any custom taxonomies that have been created.

I realize that you have a meta fields option but with custom taxonomies that I have created I have more control over displaying specific information on the theme with built-in WordPress functions.

Hi!

When you create an article which contains only text, it'd be great when two things happened:
-the commenting (prev/next) field should be apparent.
-in the archive-view the content of the article (the text), is cut off to the format of the picture-thumbnails, like in this example: http://img199.imageshack.us/img199/2283/unbenanntuws.jpg

..or is there any other proper way to publish solo-text-articles?

I have a blog with one photo per page and post - wenedeux.com/blog . To switch between the posts one has to click on the "next"-arrow. But with the size of the pictures also changes the position of this arrow. So you cant just blindly click somewhere, just watching the photos.
That's why it would be cool if the image itself could link to the next post/picture. So this way you only would have to click somewhere on the picture. Even better: left side of the picture: previous post, right sight: next post.

Oh and thx for this great plugin!

My only wish for this plugin is that we could have a little more control over the markup that it generates. For example, when I upload images, if I have a width and height set in the plugin's admin system, the server will resize the images to that width and height. I'd love it if that width and height did not appear as attributes in my HTML. I can put it in my CSS, if I want it at all. The same with the class attributes for the images and thumbnails.

So, I'd really love it if there could be an option in the admin panel for whether or not the plugin should write width, height, class, etc. attributes into the HTML. I could see others benefiting from the ability to specify what those classes should be, but I'd really love it if they could just not be there.

Anyway. Thanks so much for the plugin.
Jonathan
