I concur. After a photo a day for almost a year, I can't switch themes without a rebuild and the rebuild never completes. If I could select posts from posts screen and batch rebuild the selected, it should would help.

I want that too... The second option would be perfect...

I have a photo site with over 9000 images currently. When I rebuild, I have no idea if it is working/hung/exceeded memory limts etc. Is there a piece of code that I can see what is being completed that I can add under the AJAX % Complete bar. It has been running for 24 hours so far and the percentage still says 0%

Here's something that would be absolutely awesome...
I already name ictures before uploading them according to the post title I want them to have in wordpress. But after uploading, there is still quite a lot of work left to tag each one of them. The chances of my connection dying or just getting bored might mean some work is lost if I need o sto in the middle of the process.

Now, how about reading the tag information from the image file name as well? This way I could upload a batch and know thaat the only thing missing will be the description, which is unique for each picture, and which I can always process one by one when I have more time.

Here is an example.
Right now, I am uploading a "01_This_is_a_nice_picture.jpg" to get a post titled "This is a Nice Picture" to appear first in the queue. I need to add tag information and a description after uploading.
I would love to be able to upload "01_This_is_a_nice_picture-tags-nice-wordpress-example.jpg" to get the tags "nice", "wordpress" and "example" automatically assigned to that post.

Does this make any sort of sense?

There's an option for having the little blurb of text in the RSS feed. That works great. I'd like to additionally put the actual image in - preferably in a custom size (which would likely be one of the sizes defined in the PhotoQ settings).

Thanks for this great plugin & theme combo!

EDIT: I am an idiot - it's the other way around, the picture shows up but not the description, despite the fact that the option is checked. Will post separate bug report; this request can be closed.

2nd EDIT: I'm an even bigger idiot - the only issue is that Google Reader doesn't display the description. Will take it up with them.

I experimented a little with the different settings (using the beta of both PhotoQ and iq2). I like all of this a lot, but am struggling a little bit with the same issues that Unico and dawilson, the posters of the two threads that you linked to, struggled with as well. Of course I realize that not everything that I want may be possible.

I'll describe in a bit more detail what I'd like.

1) Like dawilson, the poster in the other thread you linked to, I'd like the "single" page including the "prev" thumbnail link to be the front page, and any comments. When I replaced index.php with single.php, what I got was a front page that consists of my 10 latest posts. (Would that be considered a bug, or is it something weird with my installation, or is it expected?)

2) Also I'd like the main photo to link to the original size; I've got this working with your assistance - thanks! (Or maybe another big size, say max dimension 1200 or so; but I think I can figure that out with the custom sizes etc.)

3) It says on your site that iq2 is widget compatible. How do I make widgets appear on my pages? I tried dragging and dropping some stuff to "Sidebar 1" in WP admin -> Appearance -> widgets, but it doesn't show up on my page.

Let me know if you need more information. Thanks a lot again, and thanks in general for writing this very cool plugin & theme combination!

Hi!

I'm not sure if someone suggested this before.. if not: It'd be great if it was possible to rotate pictures after you uploaded them via photoq. Most pictures that you took vertically would be presented correctly with any picture-viewer, but photoq doesn't recognize this. So a lot of times I forget rotation before I upload.

Cheers, Nico

i understand that what you want is probably something like a ligthtbox-style pop-up of the original size? if so this can already be done:

1. in photoq settings: change views->content from "single photo" to "image link" and the corresponding dropdowns to "main" linking to "original".
2. uncheck "Main photo links to previous post." in iq2 settings
3. install a lightbox plugin like shutter reloaded. the full size images are then shown on the same page in an overlay.
4. finally, you might want to get rid of the current iq2 frontpage. you should be able to achieve this by renaming single.php to index.php, see also here http://www.whoismanu.com/forum/topic/modifying-iq2

here is another link to a related discussion that may help you: http://www.whoismanu.com/forum/topic/no-batch-in-photoqbatchphp#post-363

I guess this is an iQ2 theme request. I'd like to give my users the option to get a bigger size than the iQ2 default. Or is there a way to do that already, using the different image sizes?

Thanks,

Hi Manu.

I noticed that the exif data is stripped from the images and leaves them orphaned. Since it's so easy to steal images on the web it would be nice if this data could return to the images.

I found this php script that might be usefull http://www.imagemetadata.com/ (download button) and hope this is something that could be put on the probably long todo list.

A feature could be the ability to select which imagesizes are to have this data

Regards, Miklas.

I'm using PixelPost which has 12cropimage for manual thumbnail crops. The system will automatically crop, but you can update the thumbnail at any time with 12cropimage.

My wishlist includes permalinks which aren't easily done in PP and I've looked at Drupal and Wordpress for an answer. Drupal has ImageCache for manual thumbnail creation but I haven't found anything similar in Wordpress. I wondered about porting 12cropimage but it's old and doesn't work in IE.

In any case, I'm planning to try out PhotoQ and wondered if manual thumbnail crops were possible if not within the system then with another plugin.

hi rob,

thanks a lot for your suggestion. indeed, such a feature would be very nice to have. i will add this to my todo list of things for which i need to check if and how they can best be done.

i remember that i already thought about this once but then postponed it because i didn't at the time really see how this could be nicely integrated into the batch mode where multiple photos are manipulated together. will try to have another look...meanwhile any suggestions are welcome.

Hi,

PhotoQ is fantastic, a very easy way to load multiple images into galleries. I'm really impressed.

The only thing that can be improved is the auto-cropping, resizing feature. Whilst it works well, it works best when the original images are of a similar aspect ratio to the thumbnail / single image. If for instance the image is a portrait, being cropped into a letterbox, most of the time the subject's head won't make it into the frame.

It would be amazing if it was possible to hook up an image manipulation script, like jcrop (http://deepliquid.com/content/Jcrop.html) to allow WP editors to select the best crop of each image after they've uploaded them, falling back on the default crop as needed.

So I have a lot of photos, and it would be great if there was an option in addition to "Rebuild All" that would let you rebuild some of the photos - for example, rebuild posts x through y, with user-entered variables (1 through 100 for example).

Another way to implement this would be in the "Post" page in the administration dashboard. If you could be able to check the boxes next to posts you wanted to rebuild, then under "bulk actions" there was a choice to "rebuild selected" or some such.

Thanks!
