File permissions seem ok - no errors reported. I don't know about GD or Imagemagick - what should I be asking my provider? Are GD or Imagemagick installed and if so where? Really just guessing based on similar problems others have reported.

Hi,

I am in the process of migrating my site to a new server and provider (currently at http://69.175.126.138/~adammur2/). WordPress 2.9.2. PhotoQ 1.8.3 It is all working fine except for PhotoQ, which is having some difficulties. Thumbnails in the dashboard are not being created - instead I get a small image which displays the following text:

phpThumb() v1.7.9-200805132119

Usage:

read Usage comments for details

If I click on the thumbnail the image is displayed as normal. If I try to post the photo I get the following error:

Hi,

after some time I tried again to update Wordpress (from 2.7.1. to 2.9.2) and PhotoQ (from 1.6 to 1.83) and I am still experiencing the same problem which kept me from updating before:

After uploading photos / specifiying the ftp directory and entering the common batch info, right after pressing "Importieren / Informationen eingeben" (Import / Enter Info), PhotoQ loses the beforehand recognized photos. So I cannot publish at all with the new WP/PhotoQ.

It would be great if you could give me a hint as to where to look for (and fix) the error. Any idea why PhotoQ loses the uploads in the new version?

BTW, the database convert worked without problems, so the published fotos look like they should and can be batch manipulated by PhotoQ, I just can't publish new ones.

Thx alot 4 your great effort with the plugin,
mo

PS: How can I publish single photos (to test if that works)? Is it just the function "Publish first foto" from the menu?

i am having an important deadline at the end of next week and i am really sorry for the lousy support during the last few weeks.

until the situation improves, here is already what i can tell you: the photoq options are written to the wordpress options database table. the corresponding entry has the name wimpq_options and contains an associative array. The imagemagick path should show up as an array entry with key name imagemagickPath.

Ok, after a teatime i got another idea for my security issue. A new .htaccess file for the thumbnail folder. It could be so easy, but i must really say.... didn't thought about it till i got the idea. So the file extension-problem is solved. $head->brickwall xD

Outstanding is the exif-information-update. But that doesn't have any priority.

Yeah, i got the error that he couldn't find the file (after the file extension modification). I thought the this->_path would include the whole path + filename + extension, but ok. It's difficult to debug in wp-php-code or i just don't know how (yeah i have seen the "Debug" functions but don't know where the output is) xD.

Because of my security reasons i have locked jpg-images and some other filetypes in a .htaccess file this works very good. But for a better linking of posts with the thumbnail in some forums (where the thumbnail should be shown), the thumbnail have to have an another extension then jpg so i thought of jpeg which is the same file type with just another file extension. Thats why i can't replace all jpg through jpeg images because the original and main have to be jpg and only the thumbnail (for security issues) jpeg.

1.) will have to try at these exif outputs one of these days

2.) concerning filename extensions. you cannot just change them as you did. the reason becomes apparent when you look at how this function is called

$this->createThumb($oldOriginalPath, $this->_path,...

in your case you change $outFile locally in the function, which will have the file that is generated have your desired extension. however one level higher up, the _path field does not get changed and this one is used to create the post data. so in your case i guess that after your modification the filename on the server no longer matches what is put into the posts.

i don't see an easy and simple way to change these extensions. it was simply not foreseen. why do you want to change them anyway?

however, i think if you upload your files with .jpeg in the first place, they will always have this extension.

Hello,

got some time now again. Ehm, did you try the whitebalance or flashlight output? Because i get the weird integers everytime when there should be a string to be displayed.

Today i got another question xD i tried my logic but it failed: i wanted to change the fileextension of the thumbnail in the generator to jpeg. So i searched the code, where you generate the thumbnails (class/PhotoQImageSize.php) and added following lines into the createThumb()-function:

function createThumb($inFile, $outFile, $width = 0, $height = 0)
	{
 $outFile = substr($outFile, 0, -3);
 $outFile += "jpeg";
...

But when i rebuild, i got an error and i can't var_dump on that place. I thought the outfile is the string of the filename + extension + dirname of the new thumbnail or am i wrong? Or is there an easier way to change all the thumbnail fileextension from jpg to jpeg and which is automatically updateing the posts like when you go under settings and "rebuild all the publishd photos" (i really need this change xD).

Hi,
I'm trying out PhotoQ and IQ2 using WordPress 2.9.1 and PhotoQ 1.8.3. They all install okay, and I can select the IQ2 theme. When I go to Settings->PhotoQ, the autoconfiguration area is blank apart from a "save settings" button. I can't select any preferences. I tried creating the folder "myPhotoQPresets" and copying in iq2.xml, but that didn't work either, still no combobox to choose settings.

I do get a warning at the top of settings saying that this plugin has been tested up to 2.9, and I'm running 2.9.1 of WordPress. Should this stop it working?

thanks in advance for any help you can give.

I've tried that as the path (and that's also the default, is it not?).

When I had it set up on the first account, which was an identical godaddy account, I never set anything up with imagemagick, it just worked. It wasn't until I moved to the new server that I started getting this issue, and had to look into what it actually was. So I don't see why it wouldn't work on this account.

Also, how can I tell what the path is currently set to? Whenever I change it, and then come back, the field to change it is blank. So I don't know if there's somewhere that I can confirm what the path is set to, but so far, I haven't found it.

As far as the other problem, I've already deleted the posts, and I still get the error. Where in the database can I go to delete the entries for the posts so photoq isn't looking for them?

hi,

1) the path to imagemagick must be the full path, i.e,
/usr/bin/convert
(including the name of the executable). maybe this is the problem?

2) your second problem is most likely do to the different paths on the different installs. see also this post: http://www.whoismanu.com/forum/topic/thumbs-and-rebuilt-link-broken-due-to-server-move#post-582
if you don't care about these pictures and associated posts anymore on the new server you should also be able to get rid of this error message by deleting the corresponding posts. in this case you obviously don't have to touch the database.

So I love this plugin, but I'm having some issues.

My current issue is with it not finding ImageMagick. When it goes to post photos, I get an error message that starts with:

Failed:
phpThumb() v1.7.9-200805132119

All attempts to create GD image source failed.
ImageMagick is not installed (it is highly recommended that you install it).
Source image is too large (2592x3872 = 10.0Mpx, max=13.4Mpx) for GD creation (either install ImageMagick or increase PHP memory_limit to at least 65M).

I had set up my wordpress account in a subdomain of another site I had, and everything was working great. It was my demo site to convince the guys I work with that it was what we needed. I then went ahead and got us our own domain, and when I copied everything over, I started having issues.

So it's not finding imagemagick. I'm on a GoDaddy linux server, and according to their documentation, ImageMagick should be there.

All of our Linux hosting plans include ImageMagick. The convert path to ImageMagick, version 5 on our servers is:

/usr/bin/
The convert path to ImageMagick, version 6 on our servers is:

/usr/local/bin/

And from what I can see in the Further Options settings, that should work just fine. The only thing I can think of, is that on this site, I've got wordpress installed into the root directory... Can that be causing an issue?

Another problem that isn't halting the development of the site, but is a bit obnoxious, is whenever I change a setting that would involve editing the photos, like change the size of the thumbnails for example, I get error messages with editing photos that I had set up on the previous site.

Post "July 18, 2009 - Playoff's Pub": The photo "090718Playoffs.jpg" could not be found at "/home/content/j/u/s/justinmikehunt/html/spectrumtheory/wp-content/original/2010_02/090718Playoffs.jpg".

justinmikehunt was account info on the previous site, and not on this one. I tried deleting all the pictures to start fresh, but it still has these paths stored in a file somewhere, and I can't find where.

I'm using the latest versions of Wordpress (2.9.1) and PhotoQ (1.8.3)

Thanks a lot for any help.

Thanks for the suggestion. I've made the change and turned off my FeedBurner routing plugin but am having some problems getting hold of the raw feed data. Both IE and Firefox insist on giving me the cached Feedburner version of the feed so I can't see the raw RSS data any more (FeedProxy barfs on the stream formatting that FeedBurner generates). I'll try again tomorrow and see if I can figure out how to completely disable FeedBurner again.

I have a page that shows the archive (based on your suggestion for a
order of Sticky, then newest to oldest. HOWEVER, I cannot change the
order in the posts - it starts with the sticky one, but then seems to
run in a random order back to front. I need to have the newer posts at
2. publish them
3. pick one of them and edit it in wp admin section
4. edit in following way: upload/insert, add images, insert gallery
5. save changes

I've just noticed that when inserting a classic WP gallery with the tag in a post created by PhotoQ, the gallery is completely broken, showing pictures not uploaded for the post but others. Is it a known bug ?

I've finally had some time to go back and look into the RSS feed problem once again. To recap, I want to make sure that the description text I enter for each photo is included in the RSS feed such that the feed shown in Google Reader contains the full sized image and the description text. As things stand today, all I get is the image with no text.

The problem seems to be that the description text needs to be included in the <content:encoded> section of the feed as well as in the <description> block. I've tracked down where the RSS feed is generated (wp-includes/feed-rss2.php) but this seems OK to me - the <content:encoded> section is built from the_content() if I have RSS excerpting turned off. Looking at the database, however, I see that post_content contains only the image URL (hence explaining why that's all I see in the <content:encoded> section of my RSS feed). The entry does contain class="photoQcontent photoQImg" and I suspect this is somehow intended to be expanded somewhere. I can't see any reference to this class in the stylesheet, though, so I'm at a loss to figure out what it is doing. In the post_excerpt database field, I see class="photoQexcerpt photoQImg" and, looking at the raw RSS feed, this appears to be expanded to include the description text somehow.

Could you offer any advice on what's going on here so that I can make some more progress? Apologies if these are annoying questions - despite 30 years of professional C programming, I'm a newbie at PHP and know nothing at all about the guts of WordPress - but I assumed this would be an easy thing to do when I started looking at the problem!

Thanks in advance!

<Edit - looking through IQ2Theme.php, I see:

 //add description to feeds
add_filter('the_content_rss', array(&$this, 'addDescrToFeed'));
add_filter('the_excerpt_rss', array(&$this, 'addDescrToFeed'));

which looks to me as if you are trying to add the description text to both the excerpt and content when generating the RSS feed. Why, I wonder, does the text end up in one but not the other?>
