PhotoQ WordPress Photoblog Plugin Update 1.5.3

This update for PhotoQ 1.5 fixes an issue with batch posting several photos at once. If you do not use the batch posting feature you do not need to upgrade necessarily.

More information on the issue fixed: WordPress only seems to keep the post date with a precision of one second. Now, if you batch post photos with PhotoQ it is very likely that some of them will end up being posted within the same second, the post dates will thus be undistinguishable for WordPress in this case. This then in turn poses problems with template functions such as get_next_post that at the time of writing assume different post dates for every post, resulting in posts “disappearing” in your theme. This updated makes sure post dates differ by at least one second even if the posts are posted faster.

To upgrade to PhotoQ 1.5.3 from 1.5.2 you should just be able to overwrite the plugin folder or perform an auto upgrade. For updating from older versions please see the instructions given in the 1.5.2 release.

For information and documentation on PhotoQ 1.5 please have a look at the 1.5 post.

    achim,

thanks, nice to hear you like it.

right now photoq doesn’t support multiple users. so no, currently there is no such option. however, i am thinking about adding this, so it could come one day…

    I love the plugin.

Although I can’t seem to upload any photos. When I click ‘Add photos to que’ button the button ‘Select photos’ doesn’t do anything when I click it.

I’m using Firefox 3 on pc. Any ideas how I could get it going?

Also… another question, since this uses an almost seperate mechanism than normal posts, does that mean using wordpresses e-mail to post feature doesn’t work?

I’m mainly asking as I’ve set up the blog really so i can email photos from my iphone and have them automatically published…

Thanks for all your hard work! I look forward to your reply. :)

    Cheers

    matthew,

your problems sound like flash player 10 (see photoq requirements section for more info).

your second question: photoq doesn’t disable wordpress’ normal posting mechanisms in any way. you can use photoq and still post other posts the usual way. only that posts not posted via photoq will not be “photoq posts” meaning that they will be independent of your photoq settings (thumbsizes, exif stuff etc.).

i am currently thinking about how to also drop this limitation to some extent i.e. how to make integration with standard posting tighter. let’s see what comes out. any suggestions are welcome.

I’m using Ubuntu and have Flash Player 10 installed and am having the same problem as matthew.

    Tim Rybak thinks:

It’s me again! I am having the same problem as discussed above with the upload buttons not working. I uninstalled Flash 10 and installed Flash 9, but it didn’t work. On a whim, I then downgraded my WordPress site from 2.6.5 to 2.6.3 and the functionality came back. I don’t know what changed in the upgrade, but it definately broke something.

    Thanks!

    Ari thinks:

Just setting up my new install and your plugin was the first thing in. Like all others here, I can’t get upload to work from FF3. It works in IE7 no problem. WP 2.6.5 as well. Anyone figured anything out?

    whoismanu says:

    tim, ari,

sorry guys for my late reply. i wasn’t around this weekend and just saw all your posts now. i’ll try to check into this tonight. from what you are saying it looks like a compatibility problem with wp 2.6.5. the weird thing is just that according to the wordpress blog nothing related to the flash upload changed from 2.6.3 to 2.6.5. i’ll let you know if i figure something out.

    whoismanu says:

to all users having problems similar to those of tim and ari,

at least for tim the issue was not a photoq issue and it is now resolved. the problem was that when upgrading wordpress not all files in the wp-includes folder were copied to the server. copying them over solved all problems. see also this post on the wordpress support forums: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/220660

of course this will not resolve the current incompatibility with flash player 10. as stated in several places on this site, wordpress will only work correctly with flash player 10 starting at wordpress version 2.7. so the same holds for photoq. wordpress 2.6.x + photoq + flash player 10 just does not work and it probably never will (no need to even try). to use photoq batch uploads in wp 2.6.x you either have to use flash player 9 or resort to photoq ftp or single uploads.

Just installed the combo WP 2.7 and PhotoQ 1.5.3.

Looks good – but I can’t edit posts in queue anymore.
The editing process works as advertised, but on saving it returns to its previous state.
    Any idea?

Aside from that – still happy with your work!
    Cheers, Klaus

    Klaus thinks:

Just an update. Can’t delete post in queue, either.
The message that the corresponding file will also be deleted appears, though. Just the post will not go. ;)
To be on the safe side I re-uploaded the plugin as supposed to the previous automated install.
    Checked with FF3.

I just upgraded to WP 2.7 using PhotoQ 1.5.3 and now I cannot add photos using the Add Photos to Que button.

I guess I should have checked for compatibility, first.

    klaus, dewaun.simmons,

photoq 1.5.3 is not compatible with wp 2.7. i have the new version photoq 1.6 ready but i didn’t find the time to put it online yesterday.
i will try to do it tonight. so let’s hope you don’t have to wait more than one day.
