wp version? photoq version? does it work with batch uploads disabled? if yes, my first guess would be a mod_security problem. did you try the mod_security related hints given here: http://www.whoismanu.com/blog/2008/03/photoq-wordpress-photoblog-plugin-v12-ready-for-wordpress-25 ?

I uploaded the new photoq, but I’m having trouble uploading new photos now. After selecting a photo and uploading it, I get a popup saying: “upload error:500″. If I proceed to enter info, nothing appears. If I then click the save the info, I return to the main photoq upload page, except above the “Manage Photoq” header, the following message appears:
Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /home/.stetson/thinkfiver/intelligentcloud.org/wp-content/plugins/whoismanu-photoq/classes/PhotoQ.php on line 1144

I found a watermark plugin but that one only works for photos in de WordPress media library and not for photoQ, so we just wait :)
