This new version of PhotoQ Wordpress Photoblog Plugin now fully supports Wordpress tags introduced with WP 2.3. You will find a new field for entering tags when uploading your photos to the PhotoQ queue.

Importing Tags From Custom Fields into Wordpress 2.3 Native Tags Structure

Assume that you have been using PhotoQ and that you were entering tags for your photos through a meta field called “tags”. PhotoQ then placed this information along with the post in a custom field with the same name. How can you get this information out of the meta field and import it into the “tags” field provided by Wordpress? Luckily, Wordpress ships already with a set of importers that make exactly this possible. Which importer you can use depends on how you separated your tags. Please be sure to back up your Wordpress database before doing any of the steps below.

1. You separated tags with a space:
   • Go to Options->PhotoQ
   • Make sure “Upon Rename: Rename already posted as well” is checked
   • If the name of the concerned meta field is not “tags”, rename it to “tags”
   • Go to Manage->Import and use the “Bunny’s Technorati Tags” importer to import your tags
2. You separated tags with a comma:
   • Go to Options->PhotoQ
   • Make sure “Upon Rename: Rename already posted as well” is checked
   • If the name of the concerned meta field is not “keywords”, rename it to “keywords”
   • Go to Manage->Import and use the “Jerome’s Keywords” importer for version 1.x to import your tags

If the “Import” page is blank or shows a memory error, you are experience a memory exhaustion caused by the fact that Wordpress seems to be much more memory-hungry starting with version 2.3. Placing the line

ini_set("memory_limit","16M");

after the initial <?php in wp-admin/import.php solves the problem. Alternatively you can also put the line

php_value memory_limit 16M

into you .htaccess file.
